COUNTDOWN – 4 WEEKS

PRICE IS RIGHT AT&T CHAMPIONS CLASSIC:  World Golf Hall of Fame member Nick Price joined the list of committed players for the 2008 AT&T Champions Classic.  One of the most recognized names in all of golf, Price joined the Champions Tour last year, making 15 starts, with a top finish of third at the Senior PGA Championship.  This will be his first appearance at Valencia Country Club in the AT&T-sponsored event.  During his distinguished PGA Tour career, Price recorded 18 victories and earned PGA Tour Player of the Year honors in 1993 and 1994.  His 1994 season was one of the best ever on tour, garnering six titles, including the British Open and PGA Championship.  In addition to his Tour wins, Price has 24 other victories worldwide.  He kicked off his 2008 Champions Tour season last week at the Allianz Championship, finishing T-56, shooting a three-day total of one-over-par 217 in Boca Raton, Fla.  He did record one of the better rounds on Sunday, finishing with a 4-under 68 to close out the tournament.

SCOTT HOCH WINS IN FLORIDA:  Scott Hoch used three rounds in the 60s to win his second Champions Tour event in as many years, claiming the Allianz Championship at The Old Course at Broken Sound in Boca Raton.  His final round 68 included a 22-foot birdie putt on No. 17 to give him a one-shot lead and a two-putt birdie on the par-5 18th closed the deal for the North Carolina native.  Hoch, who finished at 14-under, edged Brad Bryant and Bruce Lietzke by one stroke for the win.  Bryant had the round of the day, shooting a 6-under 66.  Jerry Pate went into the final round with a one-shot lead, aiming to win in successive weeks, but he used 35 putts over the final round and dropped to 10th.  Bryant, Lietzke and Pate are all currently entered in the AT&T Champions Classic.

UP NEXT ON THE CHAMPIONS TOUR:

The Champions Tour stays in Florida for the second straight week, heading to Quail West in Naples for The ACE Group Classic.  Bobby Wadkins, who opened the tournament with a 64 and followed that up with a 69 and 68 on

Saturday and Sunday, respectively, is the defending champion.  The 15-under score of 201 gave him a one shot advantage over Allen Doyle.  Former Southern California resident Mark O’Meara, making just his second career Champions Tour start, finished T-5 in last year’s event.  Wadkins, Doyle and O’Meara are all scheduled to play in this year’s AT&T Champions Classic.
