EXTEND CONTRACT: Champions
Tour Tournament to Remain in Santa Clarita Valley Through
2007

SANTA CLARITA,
Calif. – SBC Classic today announced the extension of
its agreement with the Valencia Country Club to host the tournament
through 2007, with an option for 2008. The SBC Classic, a
perennial Champions Tour tournament, has been held at the
Valencia Country Club for the past five years and has become
a major attraction in the Santa Clarita Valley, said Dave
Nichols, SBC Senior Vice President (South).
“We are excited
to keep this great relationship going,” said Nichols.
“The SBC Classic continues to be a growing success.
We have made great strides in our efforts to help the Henry
Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital increase its ability to serve
the local community and assist those who need care. The tournament
and its staff have made tremendous contributions to local
healthcare and we look forward to continuing this work.”
The SBC Classic
will enter its seventeenth year in 2006 and feature the top
golfers of the Champions Tour. Previous tournament champions
include 2005 winner Des Smyth, Tom Purtzer, Tom Kite, Raymond
Floyd and Gil Morgan. Since its inception in 1990, the tournament
has resided in various areas of Los Angeles, including Rancho
Park Golf Course and Wilshire Country Club, before settling
in Valencia in 2001.

are pleased to extend our outstanding host site relationship
for the SBC Classic. We will continue to work in conjunction
with SBC to enhance our mutual commitment to the Henry Mayo
Newhall Memorial Hospital,” said Jim Fitzsimmons, General
Manager of Valencia Country Club. “This is much more
than a PGA TOUR Tournament, it is a community event that the
entire Santa Clarita Valley is very proud of.”
