SANTA CLARITA,
Calif. - Golf fans in Southern California can add a new item
to this year’s holiday gift wish list as tickets to
the 2006 AT&T Classic are now on sale with proceeds to
benefit a number of charities including the Henry Mayo Newhall
Memorial Hospital Foundation. The AT&T Classic will return
to the highly acclaimed Valencia Country Club in Santa Clarita
on March 6-12, 2006, according to Brian Fitzgerald, AT&T
Classic executive director.
“Attending
a PGA event is the ultimate gift for any golf fan,”
said Fitzgerald. “It’s an opportunity to see some
of their favorite golf legends up close and personal, and
at the same time, make a significant contribution to local
charities.”
Tickets are available
for purchase through the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital
Foundation at 661-253-8082 as well as via the Los Angeles
County Junior Golf Foundation at 213-738-2972. Also, the tournament
is inviting additional charities and non-profit organizations
to join the “Charity Partners” program, which
provide organizations the opportunity to use the AT&T
Classic to generate funds through the sale of tickets and
corporate hospitality. Contact the AT&T Classic at 661-260-1897
for information surrounding charity involvement.
The AT&T Classic
will enter its seventeenth year in 2006 and feature the top
golfers on the Champions Tour. Previous players include Des
Smyth (2005 winner), Gil Morgan (2004 winner), Tom Purtzer
(2003 winner), Tom Kite (2002 winner), Raymond Floyd, and
Ben Crenshaw, Curtis Strange and Fuzzy Zoeller. Since its
inception in 1990, the tournament has resided in various areas
of Los Angeles, including Rancho Park Golf Course and Wilshire
Country Club, before settling in Valencia in 2001.
