SANTA
CLARITA, Calif. (February 23, 2005) - The AT&T CLASSIC
today announced that it will honor all tickets from last week’s
rained out Nissan Open (held February 14-20 in Los Angeles)
for fans to attend the upcoming AT&T CLASSIC. The 2005
AT&T CLASSIC, scheduled March 7-13 at the acclaimed Valencia
Country Club in Santa Clarita, will feature a legendary group
of golfers, including Craig Stadler, Raymond Floyd, Hale Irwin,
and returning champion Gil Morgan (see attached roster list).
The entire field is vying for a share of the tournament’s
$1.55 million purse, including a first prize of $232,500.
“Since
Southern California golf enthusiasts have been pummeled by
Mother Nature this year, we wanted to offer them a ‘rain
check’ that gives them the opportunity to parlay their
rained out tickets into a free experience to see some of the
legends of the sport compete on a first class course at the
AT&T CLASSIC,” said AT&T CLASSIC Executive Director
Brian Fitzgerald.
Consumers
can bring their used or unused Nissan Open tickets to the
Valencia Country Club from March 7-13 for admission to the
2005 AT&T CLASSIC.
Last year’s
tournament proved to be one of the most exciting Champions
Tour events of 2004 as Gil Morgan, rebounding from a heartbreaking
second-place finish in 2003, put on a clinic en route to cruising
to the title. Other past tournament champions include Tom
Kite, Raymond Floyd, and Tom Purtzer. Also of special note
is the participation of longtime PGA Tour standout and fan
favorite Curtis Strange, who will be making one of his first
Champions Tour appearances at the 2005 AT&T CLASSIC. Each
day of the tournament will be aired on The Golf Channel.
Tickets
to the AT&T CLASSIC are available for purchase through
the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital Foundation at 661-253-8082
as well as via the Los Angeles County Junior Golf Foundation
at 213-738-2972. Additionally, the tournament is inviting
other charities and nonprofitorganizations to join the “Champions
for Charity” and “Charity Partners” programs,
which provide organizations with the opportunity to utilize
the AT&T CLASSIC to generate funds through the sale of
tickets and corporate hospitality. For information regarding
charity involvement, contact the AT&T CLASSIC at 661-260-1897.
