SANTA
CLARITA, Calif. (February, 2005) - The AT&T CLASSIC Champions
Tour golf tournament (March 7-13) today announced that it
will again partner with the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
The AT&T CLASSIC, which will feature three days of Pro-Am play
followed by three days of Champion Tour competition, has designated
Monday, March 7th as the Henry Mayo Hospital Pro-Am at the
AT&T CLASSIC, and will devote a portion of the proceeds from
Monday’s events to the Santa Clarita-based facility.
“We’re
thrilled to again partner with the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial
Hospital in order to provide local residents with improved
and expanded medical facilities that can offer optimal care
and treatment,” said AT&T CLASSIC Executive Director
Brian Fitzgerald. “We’ve created a long-term partnership
with the entire Santa Clarita Valley community, and hope to
continue to positively contribute by supporting local charities
and nonprofit organizations.”
Now in
its second year of tourney involvement, the Henry Mayo Newhall
Memorial Hospital will again serve as primary beneficiary
of charity proceeds generated by the AT&T CLASSIC. In fact,
last year the tournament pledged to give $250,000 to the hospital
by 2006 in order to help fund the expansion of the hospital,
including its emergency ward. Previous funds raised by the
AT&T CLASSIC have helped finance and support the hospital’s
adult healthcare center, trauma center, women’s unit,
and laboratory services.
“The
AT&T CLASSIC has been a true partner in helping to support
the citizens of the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Bob
Hudson, chief financial officer of the Henry Mayo Newhall
Memorial Hospital. “By involving the entire community
in the tournament and providing financial support to assist
local charities, including our hospital, they have proven
to be both a financial asset and loyal friend. We look forward
to growing our partnership with the AT&T CLASSIC for many years.”
The 2005
AT&T CLASSIC Tournament, scheduled March 7-13 at the acclaimed
Valencia Country Club, will feature dozens of golf legends,
such as Raymond Floyd and Ben Crenshaw, competing for a share
of the tournament’s $1.55 million purse, which includes
a first prize of $232,500. Each day of the 2005 AT&T CLASSIC
will be televised on The Golf Channel.
Tickets

to generate funds through the sale of tickets and corporate
hospitality. Interested parties can contact the AT&T CLASSIC
