TEAM BRAD BRYANT CAPTURES THURSDAY PRO-AM
AT AT&T CHAMPIONS CLASSIC
Scott Hoch Withdraws from Tournament
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Champions Tour professional Brad Bryant and his four amateur partners shot a sizzling 19-under-par 53 to take the top honors in today’s AT&T Champions Classic Pro-Am.
Bryant’s group of Scott Bradley, Larry Metter, Bill Minnis and Gil Gonzales took advantage of their 7:50 a.m. tee time to post the early score to beat. Four teams finished one shot back, with the team led by professional Bruce Fleisher taking the runner-up position after a match of score cards. His playing partners Andy Shibley, Brian Bruce, Chris Percy and Michael Carlson toured the 6,900-yard Valencia Country Club layout in 54 strokes. The third place team, also at 18-under-par 54, was the R.W. Eaks team, with amateurs Steve Bradford, Santa Clarita Mayor Bob Keller, Brian Mecklenberg and Mike Kitching.
In other Thursday news, current Charles Schwab Cup leader Scott Hoch withdrew from this weekend’s tournament with a bad back. He was replaced in the field by Mike Reid. Hoch has been victorious in two Champions Tour events this year, the Allianz Championship and The ACE Group Classic, to move into first place in the season-long Charles Schwab Cup. He currently leads Bernhard Langer by 74 points in the standings, 488-414.
Competition in the 54-hole $1.6 million AT&T Champions Classic starts Friday morning at 10:20. Tickets for the Champions Tour event are on sale for $15 at the event entry to Valencia Country Club off of Tourney Road.
The AT&T Champions Classic Tournament Headquarters is located at 27441 Tourney Road, Suite 280, Santa Clarita, CA 91335. 661-260-1897 (phone), 661-260-2379 (fax)
