AT AT&T CHAMPIONS CLASSIC

Team  Allen Doyle Wins Pro-Am

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – Forty-eight foursomes tackled Valencia Country Club today for the first of two Pro-Am Tournaments held prior to the start of the AT&T Champions Classic.

Professional Allen Doyle and his group of Brad Uptgraft, John Tucker, Tom Tucker and Larry Helmle  shot an 18-under-par 54 to pace the field. 

Six teams tied for the second spot one shot back.  After matching scorecards to break the tie, the team led by professional Graham Marsh got the runner-up spot.  Marsh’s team of Chuck Detrie, Craig Musgrave, Roger White and Brian Bailey turned in their 55 early in the day.  The third-place trophy after matching scorecards among the tied groups was the team led by professional Walter Hall.  His foursome of Johnie Rodgers, George Heiche, Jonathon Sox and Randy Olsen posted their score late in the day.

The groups were awarded their trophies during the Princess Cruises Pro-Am Gala Dinner at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.

The second Pro-Am gets under way at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday with another 48 foursomes and professionals touring the tough Valencia Country Club course. 

Play in the 54-hole $1.6 million AT&T Champions Classic starts Friday morning at 10:20.  Tickets for the Champions Tour event are on sale for $15 at the event entry.
